Reporter

Will you show the real community
Away from the microscope
Zoomed to the cells
That fracture one another

Will you move from the narrative
That sells the seats
To the evening news
And the paper stands

Will you shine the spotlight
Drawing the success of positivity
Drowning the failure of negativity
Or will the need of the next article
Drive division further
To ensure the divide
brings the tension
To sell more seats

Will you show the friendships
That laugh and argue and support
Sharing difference
And living the same

Will you move your eye
From the lens of a microscope
To see the wider picture
That paints in colours
Dark and light, rich and fade
That show the many aspects
Of a neighbourhood
In collision of thoughts
In unity of support
In understanding of care
In loss of debate
In passing a smile

Will you move to change the editors ask
Or deliver the expected narrative
That frustrates the hopes of a community
Who wants nothing more
Than to be left alone
Out of the spotlight
Free from your commentary
Safe from the antagonist

This is not the field of your funds
This is home.
