To all the poems I’ve lost before

To all the poems I've lost before
You were the ones that I adored
To remember I'd repeat
As I ran across the street
To all the poems I've lost before

To all the rhymes that I thought of
In sadness, joy or full of love
You kissed these very lips
Then I lost you in a blip
To all the poems I've lost before

To all the lines that were so wise
Your meter was a perfect size
You floated in my mind
I hummed you for a time
To all the poems I've lost before

To all the themes I had at night
I thought you'd stay till morning light
Your colours were so real
Emotions I could feel
To all the poems I've lost before

To all the couplets in my car
The stanza flowed as I drove far
I whispered all the way
But you simply didn't stay
To all the poems I've lost before

To all the poems I'll lose again
I know you will drive me insane
I'll shake my silly head
To remember what I said
To all the poems I've lost before.
