Perception of less

Would I really be any better
If I wore a suit and tie
Greetings be much nicer
With an accent on the 'hi'

Casual look in blue jeans
A tee shirt with a joke
Canvass shoes in lime green
To be a stand out bloke

Hats of many fashions
From bowlers to flat caps
Baseball ones with captions
Winter woollies with ‘oh snap’

Shoes with leather uppers
Polished for my feet
Could hi tops make me dapper
Or trainers keep a beat

If my hair was cut by a stylist
With highlights and a wave
Would trust increase in the slightest
If my face was all clean shaved

Am I not the honest article
The frame of average man
Every thought or thoughtless particle
Builds the who I am

The sight of someone different
Foreign in a crowd
Comments flow in torrent
Some quiet while others loud

Foreign is merely a perception
Drawn by the seers tirade
An act of misdirection
Consider where blue jeans were made

Ordinary the definers define
To be the expected act
Abnormal the tolerant mime
A being of a lesser pack

So would a change in my attire
To be seen by the majority eye
Raise my status higher
Because of a suit and tie.
